KOHLER K-596-CP Specifications
It is of the utmost importance that you know the size of the faucet prior to installation. You do not want to get the product and figure out that you do not have enough counter space for it. With the KOHLER K-596-CP Simplice Faucet, the dimensions are 28.8 x 12 x 3 inches. It is also very important to note that the K-596-CP needs a deck mounted installation. As for style, it’s made of metal with a positively gorgeous polished chrome finish.
Last but not least, the KOHLER weighs about six pounds and has an insanely low flow rate of 1.8 GPM. On average, a regular kitchen sink will use anywhere from four to seven gallons of water per minute. This usually results in a higher than average water bill, and wastes so much of our already limited fresh water supply. The K-596-CP’s low flow rate of less than two gallons of water per minute is a welcomed breath of fresh air!

KOHLER K-596-CP Features
Firstly, the K-596-CP is a pull down faucet, which is the best model out there. So many consumers do not really recognize the distinction between a pull down faucet model and a pull out faucet model.
For those of you who do not know how a pull out faucet and a pull down faucet differ, let me explain. With any pull out faucet there should be somewhat of a handle that locks into place by sliding down, about two or so inches, into the base of the faucet. This type of faucet will always allow more than just the head of the faucet to detach.
With a pull down faucet, however, only the head of the faucet will detach, and it then will reattach up inside of the faucet neck either with a magnetic clip, or with just a regular spring release clip. The KOHLER K-596-CP Simplice Faucet does feature magnetic docking inside the faucet. A magnetic clip is much better for use, in my professional opinion.
So why do I believe that a pull down faucet is better than a pull out faucet? The answer is because of how much easier it is to use. Most faucets nowadays do not differ substantially. I like pull down faucets because it seems that every time I attempt to use a pull out faucet, the extra handle gets in the way. It will either get wet and I will drop it, or (this has happened more than one, I’m afraid) I will get it wedged inside of the lemonade pitcher while cleaning it out, and it is nearly impossible to get out.
Finally, the KOHLER faucet has what is called a three function spray head. This just means that there are three buttons on the head of the faucet that let you change the water’s shape or flow.
The first button, located nearest to the spout, is the pause button. This neat little button does exactly what you think it does, it pauses the water stream. After that there are two buttons for the stream options.
The first option is just your generic water stream that is typical of any faucet. The second option, however, is a Simplice Faucet exclusive – sweep spray. Instead of the faucet spraying out multiple higher pressure water streams in an upside down conical shape, this faucet sprays multiple higher pressure water streams in an almost forty-five degree angle (using the sink as the bottom of the angle). This feature is perfect for baking sheets as it helps to cover more surface area with water.
KOHLER K-596-CP Extras
I recently did a remodel for my dad, and this KOHLER Simplice Faucet is the sink that he decided to put in his house. He was determined to help with the installation – if you knew my dad you would understand there is no arguing with him – and while helping me install the K-596-CP he asked me a question that I had honestly never thought of. He asked me if the faucet had “water temperature memory.”
At first even I was confused because this is just a normal faucet with no computer or anything in it like that. I asked him to rephrase and he simply asked “Do I have to play with the sink for ten minutes to get the water right, or can I just turn it on and it stays where I left it?” Honestly, I did not know how to answer him, so we tried it.
He fiddled with the handle for about five minutes, turned the faucet off and then back on, and it worked! Now, this feature only works for models that have one direction for off and on and one direction of temperature. If you have a faucet that has just one direction, then this feature will not work.
The KOHLER K-596-CP also features what should be a faucet essential – the 360 degree swivel feature. This feature provides your KOHLER Faucet with a full range of motion and little resistance in moving from one side of the sink to the other.
KOHLER K-596-CP Warranty
I follow up with every client to ask what their favorite part of their new kitchen is and why it is their favorite part. One such client, we will call her Mrs. Smith, told me that her K-596-CP Simplice Faucet was her favorite part of her new kitchen. When I asked her why she told me, “Because it came with a warranty.”
I asked her why the warranty was her favorite part and she informed me that about three days after installation, her unit began making a whining noise. She called the KOHLER and they replaced the faucet head for free, no questions asked. You can’t beat free when it comes to expensive kitchen faucets!
KOHLER K-596-CP Conclusion
The KOHLER K-596-CP Simplice Faucet is a faucet for everyone. It has so much to offer from its replacement warranty, to its simple as pie installation. There is no going wrong with this faucet. After reviewing several products from several different sources, I have to say that this unit is by far one of the best faucet’s I’ve had the pleasure of installing.
